YORUBA YOUTHS COMMISERATES WITH AWOLOWO FAMILY ON THE DEMISE OF MR. SEGUN AWOLOWO JNR

The National Executive Council of the Yoruba Youth Council (YYC), the apex umbrella body for all Yoruba youth organizations worldwide under the distinguished Presidency of Aare Alawode Rahmon, expresses profound sorrow over the passing of Mr. Segun Awolowo Jnr., a distinguished son of the illustrious Awolowo dynasty.

Mr. Awolowo, a former Director-General of the Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC), was widely respected for his brilliance, patriotism, humility, and unwavering dedication to Nigeria’s economic advancement. His demise represents a monumental loss—not only to the Awolowo family, but to the entire Yoruba nation and the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

The Council describes his passing as “a painful blow that has created a deep vacuum in Yorubaland, especially among the youth who regarded him as a mentor, a beacon of excellence, and a symbol of dignified public service.”

YYC extends its heartfelt condolences to the Awolowo family of Ikenne, his wife, children, and immediate relatives, the Government and people of Ogun State, the entire Yoruba nation, and all Nigerians who admired and benefited from his contributions.

The Council also calls on Yoruba youths across the world to honour the legacy of Mr. Segun Awolowo Jnr. by upholding the timeless values he embodied—integrity, innovation, intellectual depth, and selfless service to humanity.

YYC prays that Almighty God grants the Awolowo family the strength to bear this irreparable loss and grants the soul of the departed eternal rest.

Signed:

Ogbeni Ajibode Abd'kabir

National Publicity Secretary
