President Bola Tinubu Says Nigeria Will “Engage the World Diplomatically” in Response to U.S. Terrorism Concerns

President Bola Tinubu today reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to defeating terrorism as he responded to rising concerns and warnings from the United States over the country’s security situation.

Speaking at the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting at the State House in Abuja, Tinubu emphasized that his administration will “engage the world diplomatically” as part of a broader strategy to secure peace and stability across Nigeria.

“We are engaging the world diplomatically, and we assure all of you that we will defeat terrorism in this country,” the President declared.

His statement comes amid mounting pressure from Washington. The U.S. has re-designated Nigeria as a “Country of Particular Concern” (CPC) regarding religious freedom and has warned of potential military intervention if Nigeria fails to curb extremist violence.

President Tinubu assured Nigerians that his government remains focused on a holistic security strategy

one that combines diplomacy, intelligence sharing, and international cooperation under the banner of his “Renewed Hope Agenda”. He underscored that the task ahead is “immense” but insisted Nigeria will move forward with “unity and purpose”.
